Install Zenmotion Asus to Your Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6

Auto install zenmotion with new kernel DT2W - Today we make a decision to create a tutorial and teaching you how to add Zenmotion. Not only double tap to wake but double tap to lockscreen features on your ASUS Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 too.

Actually, this cool stuff is only possessed by Asus Zenfone 2 and new generation of others zenfone family. But android geekers made a custom kernel that makes Zenmotion works on Zenfone 5 and 6.

Whats Zenmotion?

Basically, this features has built into the Zenfone 2 introduced at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) Las Vegas, 2015. We can instantly activate apps just by touching screen gestures. Zenmotion has 2 types: touch gesture and motion gestures.

1. Touch Gesture

Touch Gesture allows a user to turn on or off the screen just by Double-Taping the device screen. We can also open an app quickly by drawing a letter to open up a specific app.

Example, if we draw an C on the screen, it will turn on and launch the camera. The users can set the application shortcuts to commands that support six letters. They are  W, S, e, C, Z, and V.

2. Motion gesture

This is a pretty cool feature. When we’re inside an app (ie; browser), we can shake the Zenfone 2 twice to take a screenshot, and create a new task in Do It Later. So we instantly scheduling for read later.

Preparing and Tools

There's something you must prepare before take the action. Below are the list:
  1. A Computer with Microsoft Windows installed
  2. A USB Cable
  3. Intel USB Driver for Android
  4. ADB and Fastboot Tools
  5. Root Explorer.
  6. Custom kernel DT2W.
  7. Rooted device. Until this article posted, we can't add Zenmotion without root. Read How to Root and Unroot Zenfone 2,4,5,6 Kitkat and Lollipop.
  8. Unlocked Bootloader / UBL needed. Read 2 Easiest Ways to Unlock and Relock Bootloader Zenfone 5/6.

Installing Zenmotion

We assumed you prepared all the required things above. Now we take the action and we'll teach you a very detailed guide as we can. So here the steps you must do :

Download all package and app needed.

Install Intel USB for Android. And please make sure the driver installed properly.

Make sure your Fastboot accessible your Zenfone. You can check by run this command from Windows command prompt:

fastboot devices

Turn on / Enable USB Debugging.

How to enable USB Debugging on Zenfone

You can follow this simple steps :
  1. Go Setting
  2. Enter About Phone
  3. Choose Software Information
  4. Tap 7x on Build Number
  5. Back to Setting
  6. Choose Developer Option
  7. Turn it On

Connect your Zenfone 5 or Zenfone 6 to your PC.

Extract Custom kernel DT2W package to the specific directory. Once extracted, open the folder.

Run Install ZenMotion.bat to execute the script.

A SuperSU window will appear and ask you. See the screenshot below.

Tap Grant to start the process. Your phone will automatically reboot and flashing a custom kernel.

Now check at Setting menu, you'll get a new menu named Zenmotion. See the screenshot below for more details

Just open the menu and tap on Screen on / off, Double tap to wake/Double to suspend to activate the feature. Enjoy!

Note: This tutorial tested and works for Zenfone 5/6 with firmware Lollipop and DWYOR - Do with your own risk.
